Miller raises fears about what only she might do

This takes the fricking cake.

The only party likely to do anything negative to child friendly working practices is… um… the Conservative Party.  And why do I say this?  Why is Maria Miller’s blog post so heart scrunchingly, mindbendingly facile?

May I refer you good people to the following bits of insight…

Over the summer the unusual Northamptonshire MP Brian Binley was reported as saying “parents will exploit any new flexible working rights in order to take extra time off.” He stated that parents can look after their children without “neglecting their jobs.”

The real Conservative Party, which still exists behind the Cameron facade (and if you don’t believe that then a trip to the next Party Conference is in order), believes that the individual is selfish and exploits state benefits.  This is an ideological position entirely – it’s part of the Conservative uniform.

More evidence here.

Unusual

If there is one reason on this earth not to vote Conservative at the next General Election then surely the most compelling is George Osborne.  He is doing a phenomenal job of quietly, carefully, calmly pretending that he is a man in touch with the common folk.  By and large his tactic is to say little, stay under the radar, leave the talking to his more fluent, less offensive (on telly at any rate) boss.  Because as soon as any journo sits down for any period of time and digs into George’s past he comes up with the joy.  Drugs? Been there done that. Denied. OK fair play and who are we to argue?

But junkets – he loves a junket that one.  Loves them. Mark my words. That is not the last junket story that people have got on him.   George is a man that lives and loves the high life.  Them’s the circles he moves in.  As has been said of Nathanial Rothschild, he lives a life that most of us could not comprehend.  So does George.
